Widgets

Add Poreia widgets to your Home Screen for quick status checks and control. Requires iOS 17 or later for interactive buttons.

Adding a Widget

1. Long-press on your Home Screen
2. Tap the + button in the top-left
3. Search for "Poreia"
4. Choose Small (2×2) or Medium (4×2)
5. Tap Add Widget

Small Widget (2×2)

A compact status display showing:

• Status dot: Green (tracking), orange (paused), or gray (not tracking)
• Elapsed time: Live countdown while tracking
• Distance: Total distance traveled
• Points: Number of GPS points recorded

Tap the widget to open the app.

Medium Widget (4×2)

Same statistics as the small widget, plus interactive buttons:

Not Tracking

• Start button: Begin a new track

While Tracking

• Pause button: Pause recording
• Pin button: Drop a waypoint

While Paused

• Resume button: Continue recording
• Pin button: Drop a waypoint

Note: Tapping a button briefly opens the app to perform the action. This is an iOS requirement—location tracking requires the app to be in the foreground to start.

Widget Updates

Widgets refresh:

• Immediately when tracking starts, pauses, or resumes
• Every 30 seconds during active tracking
• When the app returns to background

Updates are throttled to preserve iOS WidgetKit battery budget.

Troubleshooting

Widget shows "Not Tracking" during an active track

This can happen if you added the widget while tracking. Open the app briefly—the widget will sync on the next background transition.

Buttons don't respond

Interactive widgets require iOS 17 or later. On older iOS versions, tapping anywhere on the widget opens the app.

Widget data seems stale

iOS limits how often widgets can refresh. Open the app to force a sync, or wait for the next automatic update.
